KI (Potassium Iodide), here Jodix as available in Norway, should be an essential item in your survival kit. In the event of a nuclear accident (as in reactor meltdown), or detonation of a dirty bomb, even far away, you are likely to be bombarded with radio-iodine depending on weather patterns. What KI does is saturate your thyroid gland with good iodine, so bad radio-iodine doesn’t get in.
