Warriors are Scholars

Those who are not educated nor think for themselves are merely soldiers and cannon fodder.

Historically, the greatest warrior societies and war bands were evolutionarily smart, and thus highly educated in relevant disciplines. This includes of course the Spartans and Jómsvíkingar. This premise ensured that there was no separation between the warriors and the law makers, because the warriors were also the law makers and ultimately controlled society.
