When two Japanese Type 95 torpedoes hit the USS Indianapolis on 30 July 1945, she sank in under 15 minutes.
300 men went down with her, many burnt alive, while nearly 900 evacuated the ship. Of those 900 men set adrift after the sinking, only 316 survived. Nearly 600 sailors were eaten by sharks, died from desquamation, dehydration, heat strokes during the day, hypothermia at night, or from killing themselves.
The U.S. Navy did not know the ship had sunk until men were spotted in the water nearly 4 days later by a patrol flight.
This Memorial Day, no matter how much contempt most of us now have for what the United States, the west, and our militaries have become, perfectly illustrated by the USS Indianapolis fiasco and how young fighting men have always been seen as disposable by politicians and high ranking officers, we shall remember those men, those brothers, who fought for each other, and for what they believed in, and died in horrendous conditions.
Men who died for freedoms that are all being lost to anarcho-tyrannical states and the vile, corrupted and despicable vaginas of all genders running them.
