Sönnungr Price Increase

First in a decade. Effective July 16, 2024.

For the first time in a decade, there will be a price increase, in some cases, significant, for most products made by Sönnungr Viking Co. with effect on July 16, 2024. This notices allows you to place orders as needed before the price increase. Also note that all applicable discounts remain valid.

This is the first increase in a decade. Unfortunately, our costs have gone through the roof, often tripling for most things, through no fault of our own. The result of catastrophic Marxist policies across the west. We only had two options: Either increase prices, or just shut down production.

Even with the price increases, we however remain highly competitive when it comes to the quality of our products. Many companies charge similar prices, if not more, for generic white label products manufactured in China and on which they merely slap a label with their name as well as add fancy packaging.

As a reminder, our products are 100% natural, made in the Nordics, America and Canada, of ingredients from the same countries as well as Europe (France, Italy and Greece for some products). They are manufactured manually using traditional and ancestral, rather than industrial processes.

Let’s look, for example, at how the Sönnungr Beard Oil is made. For the base, we take seeds from grapes, which we manually cold-press in a centuries-old mill part of a castle in France. This is in contrast to industrial processes extracting oil with heat and chemicals, making the end result highly toxic. For the lanolin, we use wool oil from our very own Icelandic sheep. We extract it right upon shearing them. Then it is a complex process to remove the smell from it, without the use of chemicals (so you don’t smell like a ram in rut). We also add a little bit of wax from our bees in the alpine meadows of Norwegian mountains. When it comes to essential oil, we use steam to produce it. Again, in contrast to chemical industrial processes. Steaming takes not only forever, but insane quantities of the required plants. We’re looking at a truck load of chamomile for example for just a couple of ml of essential oil.

Another example would be our Spartan Salve (Bensmjör). It is actually made with cold-pressed olive oil from not only Sparta, but the domain where Ἑλένη (Helen of Troy) and her husband Μενέλαος lived. The calendula in it also comes from Sparta and the Ταΰγετος mountain range. Same steam process to extract the desirable compounds from the plant.

So, this type of quality, from ingredients to manufacturing and traditions doesn’t come cheap. All things considered, even after the price increase, everything remains very reasonable for what you are getting, which, to our knowledge, is not provided by any other company.
