Norse Names are Not a Joke

Stop the bastardisation and appropriation of our culture

For over 1,200 years, we have been naming our offsprings following a very specific and traditional format and Norse naming system. We even bothered explaining the system in the Forneskja course. The way we name our descendants is a fundamental part of our history and traditions, and is sacred.

A few years ago, a migrant to Iceland, a British woman, took the government to court to demand that over a millennium of Norse culture be ignored and that British names be forced upon us. She succeeded because of the progressive cancer that is plaguing the west (including the courts) and that originated in English speaking countries. That day, over 1,100 years of Norse traditions and history went down the drain.

So, we tend to really resent Americans and other Anglophones who continue to piss on our culture by not only giving themselves Norse names, but usually with complete contempt for our traditions, in absolute delusion (often referring to themselves as sons of Æsir) and rarely capable of using proper grammar.

For this reason, we do not recognise any Norse sounding names people give themselves, or are given by LARPing groups, in America and other English speaking countries. When you engage with us, use your legal name, whatever nickname you may have been given by your own people in your own country, but do not piss on us all by making up Norse names.
