Forn Siðr is an apolitical, neutral and non-partisan organization. We do not associate with any party nor do we take any political position, including but not limited to military matters.
Your innate freedom includes freedom of conscience, and thus, your fundamental right to pick your battles, as long as you share our ethos, including the fundamentals of Mannskapr (Masculinity), and do not engage in actions that directly threaten the Kingdom of Norway or Skjǫldrinn.
This neutrality approach is critical at a time where all other organizations seem unable to remain objective and independent and are at each other’s throat over divergence of opinions. Our position will hopefully break people out of the ideological obsession that “everyone who agrees with me has to be good and everyone who disagrees has to be evil".
In practice, a good example would be the Ukraine/Russia conflict. Whatever side you are on, you may have your own reasons, and still be a good warrior embracing our ethos and way of life. There are also cases where two excellent warriors may decide to fight each other. Similarly, you may have your own reasons for continuing serving - or not - in any branch of the military. Ultimately, we will not interfere with your choices, and instead, provide spiritual support however you elect to spend your life as a warrior.
Of course, this neutrality relates to your innate freedoms as a man, including but not limited to of conscience, and cannot reasonably be construed as a move towards diversity or inclusion. One must still share and embrace our ethos, values and culture at a core level in order to be part of Forn Siðr.
I will point out that this is reflected in the Ukraine assignment in one of the courses. The Ulfs don't want you to agree with them (they have a clear stance), but instead, to make a good case as to what you believe in. You can worship Russia, or Ukraine. Or neither. Just need to make a logical and factual case.
